The crypto play-to-earn ecosystem is diverse, but the quality of games can’t really compete with serious AAA titles in the video game industry. Gods Unchained is just one attempt at merging a high-quality game with a complete crypto economy and so far it seems to be working.
In 2019 Gods Unchained raised $15 Million in funding from prominent VC funds and it has been evolving ever since. The registration process is a bit more complex than that of mainstream games but if you follow the steps below it should be fairly easy to create an account and start earning.
What Is Gods Unchained? #
Gods Unchained is a free-to-play and play-to-earn game where players have true ownership of their in-game items. Development is led by the former director of Magic The Gathering: Arena and the game style could be described as a combination of Hearthstone and MTG.
By playing the game users can earn cards and many other in-game items that can then be traded in the open market. To get started you will need to create an account and here is how you can do it in a few easy steps:
Creating An Account #
A working email is required along with a Metamask wallet that is connected to Ethereum Mainnet. You don’t need to have any ETH in your wallet but it does have to be linked to the game.
Start by clicking on “Sign In” at the top right corner of your screen.
You will then be redirected to the login page where the registration process can be started. Click on “CREATE NEW ACCOUNT” and complete the registration.
You will need a working email address because it will need to be confirmed through a confirmation email that will be sent to you shortly after creating an account.
Agree to the Terms & Conditions and download the game. Once the installation process is completed you will be able to log into the game with your email and password.
Before you can start earning rewards you will need to connect a Metamask wallet to the game. This can be done by logging in the Gods Unchained website, clicking on your profile picture and selecting “manage wallets” from the dropdown menu.
Gods Unchained is running on the Immutable X chain and all of your in-game rewards will be distributed to your Immutable X address. That is why you need to link an ETH wallet before being able to earn rewards.
Select “Link a wallet to X” and follow the steps in the popup menu.
When you click on the “connect wallet” button you will need to sign two transactions and your linking process will then be completed. If everything was done correctly your wallet will show up as linked.

Playing The Game #
Each new player is provided with a core set of cards that can be used even if you don’t spend any money on the game. You can use them to climb ranks and earn card packs that should quickly expand your card inventory as you level up.
When you run the game on your PC it will give you access to the same tools as the Gods Unchained website.
Arena will give you access to normal and ranked PVP play where you can try out custom decks or climb the ranks and earn weekly rewards.
Market is where the trading takes place. Users can list or buy cards with Ethereum that needs to be bridged over from Mainnet. This can be done by accessing your inventory page on Immutable X and selecting the “deposit” option.
Collections and Workshop allow you to explore your personal collections and create new decks for six different classes.
The Forge is useful when you collect too many duplicates. Two common cards can be forged into one Meteorite card that can then be traded on the market. Cards with quality below Meteorite are untradable but you can still use them in your decks.
In-game economy #
Most of the in-game rewards come in the form of card packs that you earn by leveling up and completing challenges. Future plans include the $GODS token that was recently released where players will earn tokens for completing daily quests and competing in many different events.
There is also a play to earn weekend ranked event going on constantly. If you play 25 games over the weekend and win most of them, you will be rewarded with more than a few card packs.
The forge is the only place where players can increase the rarity of their cards but doing so requires Flux and Gods. Both are used as payment in the forging process.
• Common core card: 0.1 $GODS + 20 Flux
• Rare core card: 0.3 $GODS + 40 Flux
• Epic core card: 0.7 $GODS + 120 Flux
• Legendary core card: 1.5 $GODS + 200 Flux
The roadmap of the game, which is very transparent at all times, implies a lot more use cases for the Gods token and all in-game items in general.

Even though Gods Unchained is still in the beta phase of development it has shown that it can compete in the current card trading game environment. The game introduced a completely new mana system along with game mechanics that can’t be found in mainstream games which could also put it on the map as a unique standalone title, rather than a copy of something else that is already available on the market.
