A whitepaper is a document issued by an organization to promote and highlight components of featured goods or services the organization offers or plans to offer. It will usually cover existing accomplishments, future plans, tokenomics and team info (if they are not anonymous).
In cryptocurrency and DeFi, whitepapers are often used to inform an audience, raise the visibility of the project, gain investors, and demonstrate a use-case for the product/service.
