Harvest lockup is a farming rewards lockup mechanism. This mechanism helps by limiting the frequency of harvest to prevent farming arbitrage bots from constantly harvesting and dump farms and pools.
For example, suppose decentralized exchange Pancakeswap has a harvest lockup active for its CAKE-BNB pool, which has been set for 8 hours. This means that users are only able to harvest (claim their rewards from farming/Staking) every 8 hours.
Usually, the harvest lock time is displayed at each farm & pool. Once the unlock time is complete the harvest button is enabled automatically and the user is able to harvest. If the user unstakes before the harvest unlock period, the rewards are still locked. Harvest lockup mechanisms do not block users from redeeming their LP-tokens.
