When Moon

A phrase used to ask when the price of cryptocurrencies will explode.

When it comes to crypto culture, the moon plays an important role. If someone asks “When Moon? – they are probably an impatient trader anxious to find out when the value of a cryptocurrency is going to skyrocket.

In 2017, euphoria spread about what lay ahead for the crypto markets when Bitcoin staged a dramatic increase in value. It is very common to hear crypto enthusiasts say: “Bitcoin has reached the moon.”

The phrase “Bitcoin to the moon” is often used to describe the time when the cryptocurrency’s price will be high enough to fund a return tourist trip to and from the moon.

According to Scott Minerd, a chief investment officer of Guggenheim Investments, the value of Bitcoin should be around $400 000 in December 2020 based on its relative scarcity and relative value to gold.

The phrase “when moon” is also used to refer to cryptocurrency investors who pile into the industry in hopes of skyrocketing profits. For example, a cryptocurrency buyer might tweet: “I bought a bag of BTC for $22,000, when does the moon come?
