De-Peg

De-Peg is the loss of a previously instituted peg on a currency. This is something to be aware of in stablecoins, particularly those pegged to an asset such as the US Dollar. If a stable coin de-pegs, it represents a fundamental breakdown of the project and the currency is no longer worth the same value of the asset it is meant to represent. For example, if you are farming a stable coin at 20% return, but the stable coin pegged to the US dollar de-pegs to only $.80, you aren’t actually earning anything.
